The Lotus Elise Cup 250 has been announced as the fastest Elise ever.

Unfortunately, it’s yet another awesome Lotus model that won’t be heading to the U.S. Proving that less is more, the Elise Cup 250 sheds 46 pounds from its weight while gaining 26 horsepower. That means it tips the scales at a scant 2,052 lbs and is capable of going zero to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, giving it the title of the fastest road-going Elise ever.

The British automaker took the Elise and brought it into its now famous “Lightweight Laboratory,” outfitting it with a lithium-ion battery that shaves 22 lbs. Combined with carbon fiber seats that reduce another 13 lbs and forged wheels that weigh 3 lbs less, and you end up with this lightweight sports car that will sadly never be sold in North America.

And if that wasn’t hardcore enough for you, you can get rid of another 22 lbs by opting for a Carbon Aero Pack, bringing weight down to 2,030 lbs.

The Lotus Elise Cup 250 is also available for the first time as a roadster as standard with a hard top available as an option. The sports car has managed to lap the Lotus Hethel test track in 1 minute 34 seconds, taking an impressive four seconds off the previous Elise Cup 220’s best time. Powering the sports car is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with a total of 243 hp and 184 pound-feet of torque.

The model also comes standard with a full Alcantara interior in red or black with an optional Leather Pack available.
