Lotus sent its fastest car ever to the short circuit at the Hockenheimring and it put down some impressive lap times.

The lightweight 3-Eleven lapped the track in 1 minute 06.2 seconds, making the British sports car faster than some expensive exotics including the Gumpert Apollo, Corvette ZR1 and Radical SR3 SL. The 3-Eleven took the record from the Porsche 918 Spyder, which it beat by 0.1 seconds.

Lotus says that the run was completed on standard road tires and at cold temperatures that didn’t reach above 46 degrees fahrenheit. The lap was completed by Christian Gebhardt, an accomplished driver and Road Test Editor for sport auto.

The car weighs less than 2,000 lbs and it gets a 450-horsepower supercharged 3.5-liter V6, making it capable of a 0-60 mph time of less than 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph (road version).

Full power comes on at 7000 rpm with max torque of 332 lb-ft available from 3500 rpm to 6500 rpm.
