Jeep Compass Replacement Coming Soon

Jeep is preparing a replacement for the Compass and Patriot and new spy photos have given us a closer look.

The photos show a delivery truck loaded with small Jeep prototypes which are dressed up in thin camouflage. It gives us a good look at the overall shape of the small CUV, which appears to mimic the larger Grand Cherokee.

A stretched, widened version of the platform that underpins the Jeep Renegade will be used, slotting this model in between the larger Cherokee and the small Renegade.

Power will likely come from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Some interior photos were taken as well, showing off a typical Jeep interior that looks very much the same as what is offered in the Renegade.

While this model will certainly replace both the Patriot and Compass, it is not yet known what name it will wear.

Production is scheduled to begin in late 2016.

I think there's a little Renegade in that C and D pillar. Very nice. I do hope it looks a little less Roguish overall when the spy wrap comes off.

Not bad...I've herd rumors of the Wagoneer name being revived
