A new record was set at this year’s Isle of Man TT, and the video is exhilarating – and slightly terrifying – to watch.

Piloting a 2016 Subaru WRX STI Time Attack car, driver Mark Higgins set a new record of 17 minutes and 35 seconds, running at an average speed of 128.73 mph.

This beats the previous record, also held by Higgins, of 19 minutes and 26 seconds. His average speed was also faster than his previous record of 116.7 mph.

Subaru provides the typical live data on the car with things like speed and rpms, but it also provides you with Higgins’ heart rate, respiratory rate and skin temperature while he’s running the lap.

For 2016, Subaru put together a purpose-built car just for the Isle of Man TT Course.
