Volvo has one-upped itself, setting new records for a semi truck in the sprint to 500- and 1,000-meters.

The rig, which is named the “Iron Knight,” uses a massive 13-liter D13 diesel engine that manages to send out 2,400 horsepower and 4,425 pound-feet of torque, sent through the brand’s I-Shift dual-clutch transmission.

According to Volvo, the Knight managed to run 500 meters in 13.71 seconds, while the run to 1,000 meters took 21.29 seconds. Top speed of the truck during the longer run was nearly 171 mph while the truck’s average speed was 105 mph.

Driver Boije Ovebrink piloted the rig at the Skellefteå Drive Center, an old airfield base in northern Sweden. The speed runs were done in two different directions to satisfy the FIA, which is still reviewing the data from the runs.

Doesn't have a 5th wheel. Too much boost to be a reliable engine. Nice custom built truck though. That 2000HP Nikola One electric truck, all wheel drive would be awesome to see on the roads
