The Korean automaker has confirmed it will unveil a new vehicle at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show.

But for those anxiously awaiting the production Santa Cruz pickup truck, you’re going to have to wait longer. Although Hyundai’s vice president of corporate and product planning, Mike O’Brien, confirmed to Car and Driver a new vehicle will bow next month, he also added that it won’t be the Santa Cruz. “It’s not the Santa Cruz,” he said. “Hopefully we’ll have something to share with you soon on that.”

O’Brien also declined to share any more information about the upcoming unveiling, so it leaves us all to wonder if it will be a car, truck, crossover or SUV. It’s highly unlikely that Hyundai is working on another pickup for the U.S. market, so expect to see a crossover or SUV from the Korean automaker. Recent rumors suggest that Hyundai has a compact crossover in the works that will be shared with Kia.

The good news is, he also confirmed that Hyundai is still working on the Santa Cruz and that the company is “working as hard as we can to make it happen.” Still, it’s not an absolute certainty that the pickup is heading to production. He does sound hopeful though: “But it makes all the sense in the world for us, for a lot of reasons.”
