Porsche Updates 911 GTS Models With Turbo Power

Porsche is launching five new 911 GTS models, including rear- and four-wheel drive versions of the Carrera and Carrera Cabriolet, bringing the 911 lineup to a staggering 25 variants.

Joining the Carrera GTS models is a new Targa 4 GTS, rounding out a 911 lineup that now includes more than two dozen variations of Porsche’s quintessential sports car. All new GTS models will get power from the twin-turbocharged six-cylinder used throughout the 911 range this side of the 911 Turbo, with output rated at 450 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque.

All five put power down to the tarmac through a standard seven-speed manual transmission, with Porsche’s PDK dual-clutch automatic an option.

Both Carrera GTS coupe models feature Porsche’s adaptive sport suspension, dropping the overall ride height by almost half an inch (10 millimeters), while the Carrera and Targa models get the non-sport version of the adaptive suspension.

With the lightning-quick PDK handling gear changes, the coupe version of the 911 Carrera GTS will run from zero to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds) — about half a second quicker than an automatic-equipped Carrera S. Cabriolet and Targa versions of the GTS, meanwhile, while complete the same sprint roughly 0.3 seconds quicker than their S counterparts.

Like other GTS models, the new 911 quintuplets stand out from their siblings with distinctive black exterior accents, including 20-inch center-lock wheels. Inside, the cars get standard sport seats finished in leather and Alcantara and feature GTS logos in the headrests.

The new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS starts at $119,000 ($136,000 in Canada), while the 911 Targa 4 GTS carries an MSRP of $138,200 ($157,900 in Canada). All version of the GTS are set to go on sale in the spring.
