A team of Italian Tesla owners drove nearly 670 miles on a single charge.

The Tesla Model S P100D saw its charging port sealed by a lawyer for the record attempt, which involved five drivers touring southern Italy over the course of 29 hours. The normal production vehicle was outfitted with low rolling resistance tires and had the air conditioning off for the trip, with the drivers taking advantage of Autopilot to help keep a constant speed in the middle of the lane.

The new record beats the one set in June 2017, when a Model S P100D drove 560 miles on a single charge in Belgium. Tesla CEO Elon Musk verified it’s the first time a production electric vehicle had driven over 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) on a single charge.
