The 2018 Honda Odyssey has earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award and five stars from NHTSA.

The updated minivan from Honda earned Good ratings across the board on IIHS crashworthiness tests, and models equipped with available Honda Sensing and LED headlights are eligible for the Top Safety Pick+ award. The Collision Mitigation Braking System found in the Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies earned a Superior rating. In track tests at 12 mph and 25 mph, the Odyssey with Honda Sensing avoided collisions.

The Odyssey Elite and Touring trims earned an Acceptable rating for their LED reflector headlights.

The 2018 Honda Odyssey also achieved a five-star overall rating in the NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), scoring five stars in the frontal crash tests for driver and passenger, five stars for side crash tests for both front and rear seats and pole, and four stars in the rollover test.

“Odyssey was designed to keep everyone in the family happy, and helping to keep everyone safer is a crucial part of that mission,” said Ray Mikiciuk, assistant vice president of Honda Automobile Sales. “Honda’s goal of reaching a collision-free society includes safety improvements for each new generation of Odyssey without having to sacrifice minivan-first technologies like available Magic Slide Seat, which consumers have come to love.”

We can attest to this first hand. My wife was hit broadside (passenger side) by a car running a stop sign at between 30-40 mph - both passenger and sliding door smashed in on outside, but barely any intrusion into the passenger space inside - all side curtains deployed. She was safe and protected perfectly - didn't even put the Odyssey in a spin. As for Frank Yoster below - the Pacifica is a POS compared to the 2018 Odyssey. We tried them all before we bought, and my wife's immediate response when she got in the Pacifica was "This looks just like a Dodge Caravan from the 80's"; the stow-and-go seats are like sitting on a bleacher bench; and the third row seat was stuck with the seat backs down on the seats and the salesman couldn't get them to stow back into the floor - he even said "we've had problem with a couple of these doing that" - real impressive for a nearly $50k car...
