The BMW M3 CS Will Soon Be a Reality

The performance focused BMW M4 CS is already on sale in Europe, but soon the German automaker will introduce an M3 CS as well.

The M4 CS bridges the gap between the standard M4 and the M4 GTS. It makes 460 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine (30 hp more than the standard M4), which is sent through a sharpened version of the seven-speed DCT transmission. It’s also about 30 kg lighter than the regular car thanks to things like a carbon-fiber bonnet and new lightweight 10-spoke wheels. You can expect the same equipment to be applied to the M3 CS when it arrives.

These spy images show the M3 CS will feature the same 10-spoke wheels as the M4 CS, along with the same ‘gurney flap’ rear spoiler. It also looks to have a front lip spoiler, which should be joined by the prominent rear diffuser from the M4 GTS as seen on the M4 CS. The camoed up hood should also be of the carbon fiber variety, shaving more pounds from this mildly improved performance offering.

We’re expecting the BMW M3 CS to debut late this year or early next year, before going on sale later in 2018.

If the pictures above with camouflage decals are of the new M4 CS, I think I'll go back to bed -- same uninspired (yawn) boxy body shape.... seriously, you can't tell one brand from another anymore... no one wants to take a chance...
