McLaren will debut its most extreme, track-focused road car yet in the first quarter of 2018.

The yet-to-be-named supercar is described by the British automaker as “the ultimate track car.” It will be road legal, but will sacrifice daily usability and comfort in the name of raw speed and track performance. The styling, meanwhile, will be the “purest expression” of McLaren’s “form follows function” design philosophy. In other words, it will have a myriad of wings, winglets and active aero elements to help push its tires into the pavement and make it as fast as possible around a circuit.

McLaren says the car will arrive before the three-seat BP23, which the company previously teased by releasing photos of a 720S-based prototype with a central driving position. The automaker says both vehicles will be produced in “very limited” numbers and all examples have already been spoken for. They will join the P1 and P1 GTR in the manufacturer’s ‘Ultimate Series’ lineup – a title reserved for its wildest, fastest and priciest vehicles.

McLaren has released a teaser image of its new model showing a cluster of three exhaust tips mounted above a McLaren logo and a rear intake grille of some sort. Rumors have indicated the mystery vehicle, referred to as P15 internally, will have an 800 horsepower version of McLaren’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, along with a lightweight carbon monocoque, active aero and a bare bones, racing-inspired cabin.

We should learn more about the McLaren ‘P15’ as its early 2018 debut date nears, so stay tuned for additional info.
