Just like the Jeep Renegade, the Fiat 500X is due for a facelift for the 2019 model year.

Spy photographers have caught the facelifted Fiat 500X while undergoing cold weather testing alongside its American cousin, the Jeep Renegade. The Fiat 500X prototype is wearing a bit of camouflage however, concealing the changes up front and in the rear. But that does confirm it will be receiving a new front fascia, which means the air intakes in the bumper are likely getting redesigned.

Expect the majority of changes to occur up front, as is the case with most refreshes, while the rear gets subtle changes like new tail lights and a slightly tweaked bumper.

Not much is known about the refreshed Fiat 500X, but the Italian automaker could also update its drivetrain. It’s possible an eight-speed automatic transmission will replace the troublesome nine-speed unit, while a new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine could be added to the lineup to help bolster sales.

The refreshed Jeep Renegade is expected to bow this summer or fall, so don’t be surprised to see the updated Fiat 500X not far behind.
