It Looks Like a Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison is Coming

Chevrolet has filed to protect the name “ZR2 Bison” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The new filing for ZR2 Bison was submitted on April 2, 2018, designated for “Motor land vehicles, namely, trucks.” This is not the first time the brand has thought about this name, as back on October 2, 2016, Chevrolet submitting a filing to protect the name “Colorado Bison.”

There are no real hints as to what a Colorado ZR2 Bison could be, though assumably it will be a trim package for Chevy’s off-road midsize truck. The Bison name was previously used in the Chevy lineup on big heavy-duty Class 8 trucks.

With a new Ford Ranger Raptor incoming, it’s possible Chevy is preparing an update for its midsize off-road machine to make sure it can compete.

As with all trademarks, there is no guarantee that the nameplate will ever see production.
