Overlanding, which is essentially just off-roading to a destination and camping there, is all the rage right now.

Chevrolet is hoping to appeal to overland enthusiasts with its upcoming Colorado ZR2 Bison, and now it looks as though Nissan wants to get in on the action. The automaker is currently developing the Nissan Armada Mountain Patrol show car, which will be displayed at the upcoming 2018 Overland Expo West before making appearances at media events and other Nissan activations throughout 2018.

While not slated for production, the Armada Mountain Patrol reflects Nissan’s vision for a dream overlanding vehicle. It features lifted suspension, off-road wheels and tires, a roof-mounted tent, jerry cans, an exhaust snorkel, a tough-looking bull bar, front and rear winches and much more.

Nissan is hoping to inspire overland enthusiasts to build their own Armada-based overlanding vehicle with the Mountain Patrol.

“If you are building an overlanding rig, the Nissan Armada is a great place to start with its impressive off-road capabilities, great on-road comfort and its suite of Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies,” said Nissan makreting manager Brandon White. “With help from Nissan Truck enthusiasts, the Armada Mountain Patrol will take that rugged foundation and transform into the ultimate overlanding vehicle – equipped with the latest in overlanding tech, camping comforts and tools needed to take on any adventure.”
