After what seems like years of testing, the 2019 BMW X3 M is almost here.

The German performance crossover was recently spied putting in some laps at the Nurburgring looking more production ready than ever before.

Prototypes were seen with deeper, more aggressive front fascias, a prominent rear hatch spoiler and a quad-tip exhaust. Test drivers were seen pushing the prototypes especially hard, pulling off four-wheel drifts through corners and braking as late as possible for some of the ‘Ring’s most daunting corners.

The X3 M is expected to feature one of BMW’s turbocharged inline-six engines, which will be paired with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and all-wheel drive. Power output should be around 450 hp, while a Competition Pack model is also rumored to arrive with around 475 hp on tap. Like other M vehicles, expect model exclusive wheels, extra sticky tires, more powerful brakes and M-specific interior add-ons.

It’s not yet clear when the 2019 X3 M will make its official debut, but with the Frankfurt Motor Show coming up in September, we’re expecting it to make its debut before the New Year.
