The 2019 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 is almost ready for its debut.

The German automaker’s engineers are putting the finishing touches on the new sports car, taking it to the Nurburgring for testing. Spy photographers caught the test car wearing production trim on the track, revealing the GT4’s more aggressive front and rear bumpers. We also clearly see the rear spoiler Porsche intends to use on the new 718 Cayman GT4.

The big question that remains is, what will power the sports car? Porsche has confirmed it will keep a naturally aspirated engine, but the 3.8-liter from the 911 Carrera S has been retired. It is likely the new 718 Cayman GT4 will use a detuned version of the 4.0-liter flat-six engine found in the 911 GT3.

Expect it to have around 425 horsepower with the engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission. It’s also unclear whether Porsche will offer a PDK transmission for the latest 718 Cayman GT4.

The 2019 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 was originally rumored to bow at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, but it didn’t make an appearance there earlier this year. But do expect Porsche to introduce both the 718 Cayman GT4 and the 718 Boxster Spyder in the coming months.
