People Are Asking for Insane Amounts of Money for a Dodge Demon

If you thought the sticker price of the Dodge Challenger Demon was high, wait until you see these listings on eBay.

Last year, the American automaker did what it could to help prevent price gouging by placing Demons sold at or below the $86,090 MSRP on a priority production list. But with 3,300 units being produced in North America – 3,000 for the U.S. – prices are already getting a bit out of hand.

The first listing we ran across on eBay that caught our eyes was for a Demon finished in Plum Crazy Pearl and a few options, bringing its total price from the dealership to $97,967. The owner however, is trying to sell it for a buy it now price of $149,900.

But that’s not even the craziest listing we found. There is another listing for a Demon with 85 miles on the odometer, asking for an insane $550,000 buy it now price. The starting bid is basically just as crazy, set at $420,000.

There are actually multiple listings on eBay right now from owners asking well over MSRP, with the auctions in the $120,000 range sounding almost reasonable. There’s also another listing asking for a cool half-a-million for a Plum Crazy Demon.

It will be interesting to see how the Dodge Challenger Demon retains its values as a collectible in the years to come. But for now, we think it would be absolute insanity if someone forks over half-a-million for one, especially if the proceeds aren’t going to charity.
