Aston Martin has presented the new Vantage GT3 and Vantage GT4 racecars today at Circuit de la Sarthe in France just ahead of the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The two new racecars aren’t quite competition ready yet, with the development programs set to take place throughout 2018. Customer race teams will get the chance to have a look at them at Le Mans this weekend, however, and will be able to enter them in various race series around the world starting in 2019. Both of the cars are based on the new Aston Martin Vantage and are powered by the same AMG-sourced twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine as the road car.

The Vantage GT3 will take to the track at Le Mans for the first time today, undergoing demonstration laps in the hands of Aston Martin racing driver Ross Gunn. The GT4 car will be on static display only in the Aston Martin Racing Festival Race paddock throughout the 24 Hours of Le Mans weekend.

“The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 is a worthy successor to the V12 Vantage GT3 and represents the core future of our customer racing programme,” said Aston Martin’s Vice President and Chief Special Operations Officer David King. “With the continued growth of GT racing in general and the GT3 category in particular, this new car and its Vantage GT4 brother will lead our expansion in the GT markets around the globe and particular target areas of the US and Asia. We’ve already seen a high level of interest from potential customers and we only expect that to grow as the car evolves closer to its homologation date.”

While the Vantage GT3 and Vantage GT4 won’t be racing this weekend, the faster Vantage GTE will. It will mark the first time the new racecar will take part in the iconic 24 hour endurance race, and after Aston Martin won the GTE Pro class last year with the outgoing V12 Vantage, fans will have high expectations for the V8 powered racecar.

The 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans will kick off on Saturday, June 16th at 2:30 pm local time, or 8:30 am ET.
