Ferrari is reminding some of its customers to ensure the airbags in their vehicles are safe.

The Italian automaker has issued a followup to a recall from 2016, which was linked to the Takata airbag scandal. If the affected vehicles have not yet been fixed, they pose a serious risk to the driver and occupants.

Affected models include the 2012 California, 458 Italia, 458 Spider and FF. Around 1,500 cars are involved in this specific recall campaign. These vehicles are equipped with the faulty Takata airbag, which was found to shoot shrapnel into the passenger compartment upon deployment, potentially resulting in injury or death.

Other Ferrari vehicles that were fitted with faulty Takata airbags include certain examples of the 2009 California, 2010-2011 California and 458 Italia and the 2013 California, 458 Spider, 458 Italia, FF and F12.

Ferrari is advising owners to bring the vehicle in for servicing if they have not yet. Technicians at a certified Ferrari dealer will replace the airbag inflators free of charge.

Ferrari owners can use the automaker’s online recall search tool, located at this link, to see if their vehicle is affected by this urgent recall campaign.
