Subaru Unveils Limited Edition WRX, WRX STI Series.Gray

The 2019 Subaru WRX and WRX STI Series.Gray will be limited to 1,000 units total.

In late May, Subaru announced pricing for the 2019 WRX and WRX STI models along with a special Series.Gray version. At the time, the Japanese automaker hadn’t revealed the limited production Series.Gray, but now it has at the 2018 Subaru Tecnica International Boxerfest in the greater Washington D.C. area. Production will be limited to 750 WRXs and 250 WRX STIs, with both models arriving Subaru dealerships this fall.

Sporting a Cool Gray Khaki exterior, the WRX Series.Gray is available exclusively with the six-speed manual transmission and is priced from $33,480 including destination. The model is based on the WRX Premium and includes the Performance Package with Ultradesuede-trimmed Recaro seats, eight-way power driver’s seat, JURID front brake pads, and moonroof delete. Other details on the WRX Series.Gray include exclusive Crystal Black Silica badging, foldable exterior mirrors, LED steering responsive headlights, LED fog lights, keyless access with push-button start, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Like the WRX, the WRX STI Series.Gray sports the same Cool Gray Khaki paint shade, exclusive Crystal Black Silica badging, and foldable exterior mirrors. The high-performance version however, comes with 19-inch wheels in a black finish. The Brembo brake calipers sport a silver finish accented by a black STI logo, while the cabin boasts black Ultrasuede with Carbon Black Leather bolster and Ultrasuede steering wheel with red stitching.

The 2019 Subaru WRX STI Series.Gray also gets a few upgrades in the handling department, thanks to a unique Bilstein STI sport-tuned suspension with Bilstein dampers for the inverted-strut front suspension and double wishbone rear suspension. The interior also has Recaro seats with eight-way power driver’s seat, and keyless access with push-button start. Pricing for the 2019 Subaru WRX STI Series.Gray starts from $40,580.

    I see that Subaru is taking a page from VW's special edition book. Too bad the WRX/STi is still only available in a 4door sedan and not a 5door hatch. I'd really love to see this done on a Levorg as it is introduced to North America and especially in the US.
