McLaren has a name for its highly anticipated F1 successor: “Speedtail.” The British sports car and supercar maker announced on Wednesday the Speedtail will also make its debut by the end of this year.

The McLaren Speedtail will be what the company calls a “hyper GT” with a gasoline engine some sort of hybrid technology. The powertrain will make the Speedtail the fastest McLaren ever with the capability to exceed the F1’s 243 mph top speed. We may see the 720S’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 paired with an electric motor.

“Speedtail” comes from the car’s free-flowing design, per McLaren, which boasts a streamlined figure. Other than the company’s own description, not much else is known about the car. We do know it will feature a central driving position also inspired by the McLaren F1 road car and it includes “exquisite” new materials made possible by McLaren Special Operations. Not only will the Speedtail be the fastest McLaren ever, it will also be the most luxurious, according to the company.

Although McLaren first announced the car, formerly codenamed BP23, in 2016, the car was sold out before the public was even made aware. The company will build 106 cars to honor the F1’s production allocation. Each will cost over $2-million.
