Nissan’s luxury division, Infiniti, has a new concept vehicle prepared for the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and it will pack an electrified powertrain.

The brand announced on Thursday the unnamed concept car has been the work of its Japanese, British, and American design studios to create a “striking” concept car. At its heart will be the aforementioned electrified powertrain, so we should expect some sort of internal-combustion engine paired to at least one electric motor.

Infiniti said the concept car will highlight its intentions to bring only electrified powertrains to market after 2021. Karim Habib, Infiniti’s executive design director, said the car “provides clues” to where the brand is heading, and it won’t just be about fuel efficiency.

“For us, electrification means performance – our electrified cars will be powerful, efficient, and a joy to drive,” he said. The concept will be a physical representation of what kind of performance and design an electrified powertrain will bring with it. The sole teaser photo provided appears to foreshadow a speedster of some sort.

It’s not the first time Infiniti has used Pebble Beach as the venue for a reveal. Last year, the brand debuted the Project 9, a “what if” representation of an Infiniti open-wheel race car circa 1940. The concept also boasted an electric powertrain.

The latest concept car will make its debut on August 23 at Pebble Beach, which caps off Monterey Car Week.
