Where is Toyota From From?

Toyota Motor Co. was incorporated in 1937 and was founded in Aichi, Japan, and its global headquarters are still located there.

Toyota’s story begins with Sakichi Toyoda, who started Toyoda Automatic Loom Works in 1926 – a manufacturer of automatic loom machines. His son, Kiichiro Toyoda, got the idea to expand the company’s operations into automobile production and convinced his elder brother, who was in charge of the company at the time, to task the risk. The company was also being encouraged to begin manufacturing cars by the Japanese government, which wanted a domestic automobile due to the war.

Toyota’s first production car, the Toyota AA, entered production in Koromo, Japan, in 1936.
