You Can Now Get the Range Rover Velar With a Massive 542 HP V8

Under the hood of the Velar Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is Jaguar Land Rover’s 5.0-liter supercharged V8, which is good for 542 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, this forced induction eight-cylinder will help the Velar hustle from 0-60 mph in a sports car-baiting 4.5s and reach a top speed of 170 mph. Land Rover also claims it will accelerate from 50-75 mph in just 2.6s.

You can’t just drop a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 in a crossover and call it a day, so the Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition also gets lightweight 20-inch wheels that make room for massive 15.5-inch brake rotors. Grabbing the rotors are strong four-piston calipers in the front and a single piston caliper in the rear. Land Rover also tuned the rear differential, eight-speed transmission, steering rack and air suspension system to deliver a sportier driving experience.

All V8 Velars will also get a new front bumper with large air intake pods, a different grille, a black contrasting roof and a revised rear bumper with quad exhaust tips. The automaker says the Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is also the only Velar available in ‘Satin Byron Blue’. Six other colors are also available: Firenze Red, Santorini Black, Corris Grey, Fuji White and Indus Silver.

Interior upholstery options include Ebony, Cirrus, Vintage Tan and Pimento leather, while carbon fiber interior trim is available as an option. A sport steering wheel with paddle shifters and heated and cooled sports seats are also standard.

The Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition will start at £86,120 in the UK, or roughly $111,600 USD. Range Rover has not said if the vehicle will be available in the United States or Canada.
