The Honda E:Ny1 Is A Stylish EV Crossover Meant Only For Europe

Honda’s latest full EV just dropped in Europe.

It’s no secret that Honda wants to fully electrify its lineup, but the fruits of its plans haven’t come to market quickly. For the US, we had the Clarity EV which didn’t have great range, or the forthcoming Prologue SUV, which actually is just a restyled GM Ultium EV. For Europe a bonafide Honda-made EV comes to market – e:Ny1.

e:Ny1: The next all-electric vehicle from Honda combines comfort, performance and technology

Although sharing a lot of visual cues, and seemingly proportions, dimensions, and body panels with the European market Honda HR-V, Honda insists this is the first vehicle to ride on its new EV-exclusive platform. Technically, it’s not even a new model, this car has already been on sale for months now in China, as the Honda e:NS1. Still, the new platform, dubbed e:N Architecture F, has been stiffened to provide better torsional rigidity and imbue the car with good driving dynamics. The crossover uses a front motor, front-wheel-drive design, that produces 201 horsepower, and 228 ft/lbs of torque. The car has a 68.8 kWh battery, good for 256 miles of range, according to the WLTP cycle.

Size, range, and price wise, the e:Ny1 should go against competitors like the Kia Niro EV, and Europe-only specials such as the MG 4, and Jeep Avenger. It’s unlikely that Honda will ever bring this EV to North American shores, which is a shame. The car’s range, size, and upscale style inside and out could make it a great entry-level EV for buyers searching to get their electrified Honda fix.
