Volvo’s baby SUV is coming real soon.

I mean, we’ve already heard the name, right? But it’s official, the smallest Volvo EV crossover is coming soon, and has a name — the EX30. The littlest EV will simultaneously debut and open for bookings on June 7.

Volvo was coy about the actual appearance of the EX30, opting to show off a dimly lit teaser photo, and a cutesy video with tightly cropped vignettes. At the end of the video, a hand reaches out to seemingly pick up the EX30, lampooning the car’s small size.

From what we can see, the rear fascia’s lighting elements closely resemble the ones on the new EX90. The shape appears to be the same typical Volvo boxy design, but its proportions are more petite than usual. Volvo has stated that the EX30 will technically slot under the XC40 and XC40 recharge, as a smaller, cheaper model. Volvo says that “thinking small is one of our biggest ideas,” which means that the EX30 is a very important car for the brand. Oh, and like the EX90, the EX30 will be EV only.

Likely, the EX30 will use the same SEA platform that is increasingly found under EVs sold by the brand’s parent company, Geely. This modular platform underpins cars both large and small, and forms the basis of the Volvo EX90, and overseas models, like the latest Smart branded vehicles. We won’t know much about power, range, or battery size until Volvo unveils the car on June 7, at 7:30 AM, ET.
