A Close-Up Look at Porsche's Most Extreme 911 Yet
Porsche has unveiled its latest track car, the limited-edition 911 GT3 R Rennsport, at the annual Rennsport Reunion held at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in California.
Designed by Grant Larson and Thorsten Klein from the Style Porsche team, this limited-edition model features a thoroughly redesigned carbon body with a focus on aerodynamics and performance. The front end incorporates optimized geometry, cooling air intakes, and ducts, while the rear end boasts a wing design inspired by the iconic Porsche 935/77.
Inside, the 911 GT3 R Rennsport includes fender-mounted exterior cameras, special graphics, and ambient interior lighting. Safety features compliant with FIA standards are retained, and the car remains a single-seat race car.
Powering the special edition 911 is its 4.2-liter six-cylinder engine putting out 611 hp with the capability to rev to 9,400 rpm.
The chassis remains basically the same as the GT3 race car, featuring a double wishbone suspension at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. Also part of the kit are adjustable race-spec shock absorbers.
With a price tag of $1,046,000, just 77 examples will be made. So, if it's a 911 GT3 R Rennsport you're after, better act quickly.
