Porsche Extended Warranty Cost

The cost of a Porsche extended warranty varies depending on model and mileage. Porsches with low mileage and less expensive components are generally less costly to cover. The final price of an extended warranty can be included in the financing of your car. This allows you to pay for protection over a longer period of time, but it will also mean that you end up paying interest on your warranty.

Do You Need Porsche Extended Warranty Coverage?

An extended warranty is designed to help cover the costs of maintaining your vehicle as it gets older and problems occur. When weighing the value of a vehicle service contract for any vehicle, you should first consider two factors:

  • Factory coverage
  • Vehicle reliability

If the factory warranty provides all the coverage you want, you may choose to pass on a Porsche extended warranty. If you decide your vehicle is reliable and likely to require few repairs, extended protection may not bring much value. On the other hand, vehicles that regularly require extensive maintenance may benefit from an extended warranty, especially if problems begin to occur just after the factory warranty expires.

Porsche Factory Warranty

Your Porsche factory warranty begins when you buy your new car. It lasts for 4 years or 50,000 miles and covers most Porsche-manufactured or installed parts. Here is what your factory warranty covers:

  • 2-year warranty for genuine Porsche parts, exchange parts, and accessories
  • 12-year warranty against rust perforation in the bodyshell
  • 7-year/70,000-mile California long-term emission control system defects warranty
  • 8-year/80,000-mile federal emission performance warranty

Additionally, each warranty includes Porsche's 24-hour roadside assistance program. This package gives drivers access to emergency towing within 50 miles, battery jump-starts, flat tire assistance, and more.

Similar to an extended warranty, the Porsche warranty does not cover things like parts that fail due to lack of maintenance, normal wear or deterioration, glass, and a few other items.

Certified Pre-Owned Porsche Warranty

Certified pre-owned (CPO) Porsche vehicles come with a 2-year/unlimited-mile warranty that begins when the original factory warranty ends.

Porsche Reliability

Porsches are infamously unreliable vehicles. According to RepairPal, the average annual repair cost for Porsches is $1,192. This cost is so high because Porsches require frequent and expensive repairs. Most vehicles in the Porsche fleet have especially low RepairPal reliability ratings.

Benefits of a Third-Party Extended Warranty

If you're looking for an extended car warranty, you should know that you do have options. You can purchase a Porsche vehicle service protection plan, or you can look into third-party warranty providers.

However, because Porsches are a luxury brand and so expensive to maintain, some companies will not cover them. Endurance, CARCHEX, and CarShield all cover Porsche vehicles, but they don't cover every model.

In general, a third-party warranty will be cheaper and offer a wider range of coverage options. Another important feature is that you can finance many third-party vehicle service contracts separately from your vehicle. This means you won’t pay interest on your warranty. You can also purchase a third-party warranty at any time, after you’ve had time to decide if an extended warranty is right for you.

The drawback to a third-party warranty is that coverage may not be as comprehensive or reliable as that of the manufacturer.

Q & A

Does Porsche offer an extended warranty?

Can you extend the Porsche CPO warranty?

Certified pre-owned (CPO) Porsche vehicles come with a 2-year/unlimited-mile warranty that begins when the original factory warranty ends. You then have the option to purchase a Porsche extended warranty.

How long is the warranty on a new Porsche?

The factory warranty on a new Porsche lasts for 2 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Is a Porsche warranty worth it?

A Porsche warranty is worth it for most car owners because of the high cost of maintaining a Porsche. With a Porsche extended warranty, you know you are protected against expensive repairs. Even if you don’t end up using the coverage often, the peace of mind can be worth it.

Does Porsche offer Guaranteed Auto Protection (GAP) coverage?

Porsche does offer Guaranteed Auto Protection, or GAP, coverage. However, the company offers this as a separate product from their extended warranty options.
