Rolls-Royce Wraith Set for Geneva Motor Show Debut
The most powerful Rolls-Royce ever and the brand’s newest model, the Wraith, will be making its first public appearance at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
Rolls-Royce calls it the “most dynamic, powerful and beautiful Rolls-Royce in the company’s history.” The Wraith will sit on top of the Rolls-Royce range, with deliveries expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2013.
Essentially a coupe version of the Rolls-Royce Ghost, the Wraith is expected to use the same powerplant as the regular Ghost, a twin-turbo 6.6-litre V12. In the Ghost, that engine puts out around 563 hp, though to validate the claim that this will be the most powerful car in the lineup, the Wraith will have closer to 600 hp under the hood. Power will be routed through an eight-speed ZF transmission.

The Wraith nameplate was first used in 1938, and is being resurrected because “Wraith alludes to an almost imperceptible but powerful force, something rare, agile and potent, a spirit that will not be tethered to the earth. It is the perfect name for our new model,” according to the CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Torsten Müller-Ötvös.
More details and teaser images will come from the brand in the weeks leading up to Geneva. Rolls will likely debut the Wraith on the first day of the Geneva Motor Show press days, which start on March 5.
