Hot on the heels of the Apple CarPlay announcement is this video from Volvo, which officially announces the Swedish automakers integration with the system and shows off what the infotainment interface looks like in action.

For many, having Apple’s iOS integration in a car’s head unit is a dream come true. Several vehicles at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show will be sporting the new system and Volvo says that the first production vehicle to sport Apple CarPlay is the upcoming 2015 XC90 which will be revealed later this year.

The video shows a messaging app with Siri-style voice recognition. There’s also access to Apple Maps and the Spotify streaming media service. One interesting thing the video showcases is the integration of CarPlay and the vehicle’s other functions like HVAC. Instead of having two interfaces – one for CarPlay and another for Volvo’s system, the two seem to blend seamlessly together.

“Apple’s clean and intuitive user interface is a perfect match with Volvo’s Scandinavian Design approach and our focus on fluid functionality,” says Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars.

A release from Volvo also noted that the iPhone will be connected to the vehicle via a Lightning cable, although WiFi connectivity will be available in future generations.
