2017 Volvo S90 to Adopt XC90 Style, Tech
The upcoming redesigned 2017 Volvo S90 will be heavily influenced by the new 2016 XC90 SUV.
In the style department, the new S90 will adopt the Thor’s Hammer headlights first seen on the XC90 along with a chrome grille and vertical slats. The S90 is replacing the S80 in Volvo’s lineup and will launch as a sedan before a wagon version known as the V90 launches later in the car’s life.

Powertrains will be identical to the XC90, with the S90 offering a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged engine that makes 316 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, hooked up to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The upgraded engine option will be a plug-in hybrid system which uses the same 2.0-liter four cylinder along with a 60-hp electric motor that will put out about 400 hp combined. The car should have an all-electric driving range of about 20 miles.
An all-new luxury interior, also inspired by the XC90, will be found in the S90, featuring a massive tablet-like touchscreen in the center console.
The new S90 is expected to make its public debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.
