Mazda6 Gets 2.5L Turbo Engine, New Safety Tech for 2018
The Mazda6 sedan has received a new 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, additional safety tech and new interior options for the 2018 model year.
Mazda says its mid-size sedan has been “thoroughly re-engineered and refined,” for 2018. The biggest change is the addition of the automaker’s 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder to the 6’s engine lineup. Originally offered in the CX-9 three-row crossover, the 2.5-liter mill makes 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder also returns in the 6 for the new model year, but it will be a tad more efficient thanks to a new cylinder deactivation system and other refinements.

Additionally, the Mazda6 will get a wider range of advanced safety technologies from Mazda’s i-ACTIVESENSE range. These include Mazda Radar Cruise Control and a 360° View Monitor. Other previously introduced safety features include automatic highbeam assist, lane departure warning and frontal collision alert with collision mitigation.
Inside the 2018 Mazda6 has received some small changes in the way of new optional Japanese Sen Wood trim, which is often used in traditional Japanese instruments and furniture. Mazda also promises other “new high-grade interior features,” but hasn’t gone into detail as to what that may include. We should know more on this front following its appearance at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show later this month.

lemme guess, good news of turbo will be pooped by bad news of with-auto-only and top-trim-only with japanese rosewood and rare monkey's fur, which means too expensive. p.s. we're tired of red colour. p.s.2 why did you mess with the interior? looks a bit boring now.
Having owned and driven many Mazda products over the years, I have no idea why they aren't sales leaders (save for the 3, which has been very successful in Canada) in more of their categories. No other mass manufacturer gets the driving dynamics as right, makes the steering feel as good, or provides the same level of driver involvement across its entire range. Factor in great safety ratings, reliability, and purchase prices, and they're tough to beat. Jinba ittai. Indeed.
