Improve your Escape with the right accessories

The Ford Escape is one of the most popular small SUVs in the North American market, combining a roomy interior, an efficient drivetrain and all-wheel-drive for safe driving in any conditions. When you combine the versatility of the Escape with the relatively low price, it is easy to see why this compact Ford is one of the bestselling SUVs in the market. You will also find a wide array of Ford Escape accessories available so owners can better fit the compact SUV their needs.

Below, we have put together a list of must-have (or at least extremely useful) Ford Escape accessories that we think any owner would appreciate. Whether you use your vehicle for a job where you spend all day on the road, or if you simply use it to get to and from the office, these items can help enrich your Ford Escape ownership experience.

1. Husky Floor Liners

Most Ford Escapes are equipped with four-wheel-drive, allowing you to use the small SUV to get into off-road adventures. If you use your Escape for camping, fishing, hiking or any other adventure in the wilderness, you likely track dirt into the cabin on your shoes. Also, if you live someplace with harsh winters, you surely get snow and slush on the floorboard. That makes a mess of the carpeting or the factory floor mat, but any mess can be easily cleaned up when you have a good set of rubber floor mats.

These rubber floor mats from Husky are one of the best option for keeping the carpeting in your Escape safe from stains. Every set of Husky mats is designed for the specific vehicle, with a tight fit across each of the front footwells, and across the entire area in front of the rear seats. The raised sides keep liquids away from the carpeting and cleaning them is as simple as removing and rinsing them.

Pros

Custom fit, keeps mud and water contained, easy to remove and clean

Cons

On the more expensive side for floor mats

2. Rokrou Wheel Locks

There was a point in time where only the owners of exotic cars had to worry about thieves stealing their wheels, but the aluminum wheels that come on most Ford Escapes are just as much a target as wheels on a new muscle car. Stopping wheel theft is tough, but a good set of wheel locks will go a long way in deterring thieves from leaving you stranded with your SUV on block.

These locks from Rokrou are a great option for protecting the wheels on your Escape. Unlike some wheel locks, with have a uniquely-shaped exterior, these have a smooth round exterior. The key for these locks slides inside of the round exterior, with a unique pattern that matches the key on the inside of the locking nut.

Pros

Inexpensive, easy to install, help to protect wheel theft

Cons

An inspired thief can still remove these

3. Ford Seat Belt Strap Pads

Most Ford Escapes have a front seat belt system which allows for a few inches of adjustment for improved comfort and safety, but there is still a good chance that the belt will rub against the skin of your neck, shoulder or chest. In some cases, the seat belt may rub against your skin and become uncomfortable, especially in the case of children or shorter adults.

The best way to prevent the uncomfortable feeling of your seat belt running against your neck is a simple seat belt strap pad. We found this set on Amazon with the Ford Blue Oval and Ford block letter text, but if you would prefer something more subdued, there are many options available online. All of them attached by wrapping around the belt material and they are held in place with Velcro, so they can easily be moved up or down for different drivers or passengers. When it comes to inexpensive ways to add a little comfort to your drive, seat belt straps are one of our favorite Ford Escape accessories.

Pros

Inexpensive, makes the seat belt more comfortable for all passengers and drivers

Cons

Needs to be adjusted each time before driving

4. NOCO Boost HD GB70 Jump Start Box

Nothing kills an evening like the climbing into your car on a cold, dark night and when you turn the key, all it does is click. You have a dead battery, or it is too low to start your Ford Escape. While it is usually an easy fix, it is no fun to be stuck in a parking lot, waiting for emergency roadside assistance to come jump start your vehicle.

If you want to help protect yourself from the headache of a dead battery in your Ford Escape, this jump start box from NOCO is a great option. It is small enough to easily tuck away in the corner of your cargo area or under the rear load floor. Should your battery be too low to start the car, you simply hook it to the battery, turn on the device and start your car.

Best of all, the jump start box also has USB charging ports, so on long car trips, you can use the NOCO Boost HD GB70 to charge your phone or tablet.

Pros

Strong enough to jump most vehicles, can charge personal electronic devices, compact and easy to store

Cons

Expensive for an item that you may not ever use

5. Sylvania Silverstar Ultra Headlights

OEM headlight technology has come a long way in the past few decades and the Ford Escape has lights which are similarly bright to other models in the segment. However, the stock headlights are not as bright as some other vehicles’ stock lights, nor are they are bright as aftermarket headlights. Fortunately, the brightest headlight bulbs on the market are available for your Ford Escape.

Sylvania has long been known for their brilliant bright white headlights, with the Silverstar line offering one of the highest levels of illumination in the industry. Not only are the Sylvania SilverStar Ultra brighter than most OEM bulbs, but the whiter light offers better visibility while driving at night.

The bulbs plug directly into the standard sockets, so to achieve brighter, clearer light, the installation process is quick and easy.

Considering the added safety that comes from being able to see and be seen, the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlights are on the short list for best Ford Escape accessories for us.

Pros

One of the brightest bulbs available for legal road use, easy to install

Cons

Considerably more expensive than OEM headlight bulbs, opposing drivers won’t appreciate your bright lights

6. Mequiars Complete Car Care Kit

If you want to keep your Ford Escape looking great for years, you have to keep it clean and waxed. There are many options for car cleaning products, but the biggest name in vehicle care products is Meguiars and their Complete Car Care Kit will help you keep pretty much every aspect of your SUV clean.

If your Escape is very new, you can use the Meguiars car wash and liquid wax, along with the tire shine. As time goes on, you can quickly clean the paint with the Quik Detailer spray and when your Escape begins getting little scuffs, Scratch X 2.0 can make those go away. There is even a product to bring back the shine in the headlight lenses and another to clean up the interior.

Pros

Everything needed to clean and protect your paint, proven brand

Cons

On the pricier end of the spectrum, you may not need every product right away

7. Auto Ventshade Vent Visors

Pretty much every Ford Escape ever made has air conditioning, but some people just prefer to have a steady flow of fresh air from the open windows. The problem is that if you drive your SUV in the rain with the windows open, even if they are only open a small amount, you are going to get rain water inside of the vehicle. If you have the driver’ window open in hard rain, the odds are good that a rear passenger on that side is going to get a little wet.

The fix for this problem is a set of vent visors from Auto Ventshade. These acrylic shades attach to the vehicle with double-sided tape, just above each of the side windows. When in place, you can open the windows enough to get fresh air into the cabin, but rain water runs down over the vent visors, missing the window opening. This is a simple idea, but it’s one of our favorite Ford Escape accessories.

Pros

Inexpensive, easy to install, keeps rain out of the vehicle when moving or stationary

Cons

Double sided tape can wear off over time, not everyone loves the look of the vent visors

Changing Ford Escape Wiper Blades

If you have a Ford Escape from the 2013 through 2019 model years, changing your wiper blades is incredibly simple. If you really aren’t comfortable doing it yourself, most auto parts stores will do it for you, but the process is remarkably simple for the 2013 through 2019 Escape.

To remove the wiper blades, you pull the arm away from the windshield and pinch the two tabs near the end, allowing the blade assembly to slide off of the end. You can either measure the old blades to pick the correct size, or ask the people working in the parts store for help picking the right replacement blades, which just pop into place on the end of the wiper arm.

Ford Escape Tire Sizes

Whether you bought a 2018 Ford Escape new a few years back, or you just picked one up used, there is a good chance that it is time to buy new tires. The 2018 Escape came from the factory with three different wheel size options – 17-, 18- and 19-inch. Escape S, SE and SEL with 17-inch wheels all wear 235/55R17 tires. Escape SE, SEL and Titanum models with the 18-inch wheels all sport 235/50R18 tires and on those same trim levels, models with 19-inch wheels all wear 235/45R19 tires.
