The first overnight shift at Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) Halewood, England plant started at 9:30pm on Monday, sparked by a large demand for the Range Rover Evoque.

Since the vehicle hit the market in 2011, about 88,000 Evoques have been sold. To meet the production demand, 1,000 new employees have been recruited for the Halewood plant, where three shifts will now operate 24/7 with a total of 4,500 employees clocking in every day. The Land Rover Freelander 2 is also assembled at the Halewood facility.

“Moving production to three shifts and working 24 hours a day will allow us to significantly reduce the time a customer has to wait for their new Range Rover Evoque,” said Halewood operations director, Richard Else.
