In the 2012 Leveraging Emotional Attachment for Profit (LEAP) Index, Infiniti was ranked third overall, and the highest automaker on the list.

The LEAP Index essentially measures how much we love a product and the emotional attachment we have with that purchase. It began in 2010 with the Apple iPod at the top of the list, which has since been replaced by the Apple iPhone.

Infiniti saw a 25 percent change from 2011 to 2012, moving it up to the third position on the overall list. Infiniti is followed by Cadillac, sixth overall.

According to the list, Infiniti and Cadillac evoke a more emotional attachment than competing brands by a long shot. BMW comes in at 13th position overall, while Audi is right behind in 14th. Those two German automakers are joined by Mercedes-Benz in 15th while 16th belongs to Land Rover. No other automakers are in the 2012 Leap Brand Index in the top 20, though Jaguar is ranked 21st overall.
