Maserati Ramping up Ghibli, Quattroporte Production
Maserati will have to crank up production this summer to keep up with high demand for its cars.
The Italian brand plans to ramp-up production of the Ghibli and the Quattroporte by about 20 percent. The plan will see Maserati’s factory in the Turin suburb of Grugliasco producing about 900 cars per week by September, rather than the 750 a week it builds now.

Fiat has big plans for Maserati, setting a lofty goal to expand annual sales to 75,000 units by 2018, and it looks like the brand is on track. Just last month, Maserati posted a 406 percent sales increase year-over-year thanks mainly to the new Ghibli. If those sales numbers keep up, Maserati is on track to sell about 40,000 vehicles in 2014, more than doubling sales from 2013.
According to a union official, Maserati will add two shifts every Saturday and reduce summer breaks to two weeks in August, rather than the regular three weeks.
