Hellcat Order Books Open… Not for Everyone

Dealers can now place orders for the 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, though there is a catch.

Allocation of the new 707-hp muscle car will be based strictly on sales performance in the last 180 days. The cars sold won’t matter either, whether it’s a Durango or Dart, dealers have to be moving cars in order to sell the Hellcat.

In December, a second allocation of the the cars will be distributed based on the previous 90 days worth of sales. Once a dealer is granted access to the car, their Hellcat inventory and how long the car sits on the lot will affect how many of the cars any given dealer can order. Dealers are expected to mark up this car over MSRP, which is $60,990, because it is such a good horsepower per dollar deal, though the brand’s head is warning dealers about this strategy.

“If you want to market-adjust the car, that’s your right. But if your days-on-lot goes above what the other guys that are selling them at MSRP is, they will end up earning the allocation because their days-on-lot will be lower. They’re turning the inventory,” said brand head Tim Kuniskis. “Some dealers are going to have heartburn with that.”

The car has allot of Horse Power. That is great but the performance numbers are not that great. They did a comparo against a ZL1 and it did barely better. With the larger premium prices the dealers will be adding I would rather get something that looked good like Zr1 Vette which will smoke it , cost you less used, looks 10 X better and will absolutely kill this brick in the corners.

Ed you must be a young kid. A true muscle car is made to go street light to street light. If you what a track car to make left turns there are several cars that will do that but they are not muscle cars.
