Buick Encore Production Increased

Demand for Buick’s small crossover is making the company boost production.

Buick managed to sell 48,892 Encores in 2014, outpacing even the company’s expectations for the small crossover and growing by about 50 percent over 2013. Now, GM is boosting production by 50 percent for the US market and the brand expects the Encore to be its best-selling vehicle by the end of 2015.

Buick dealers say that they could sell more Encores if they could get them and that the four month wait period is acting as a major handicap. Plants in Mexico, Korea, and Spain will all boost production so that the U.S. market can be sated.

The entire compact crossover market is growing, with the Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade and Mazda CX-3 all coming to market this year looking to steal away some market share.
