Lexus Has No Plans for Sub-NX Crossover

Despite its competitors building small crossovers, Lexus has no plans to build anything smaller than the NX, at least for now.

BMW has the X1, Audi has the Q3 and Mercedes has the GLA and yet Lexus has no plans to get into that market. “At the moment we have no plans of anything sub-NX,” said Lexus Australia boss Sean Hanley.

With the dimensions of the NX, it is suited to take on vehicles like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5.

Hanley did admit that there is a market for luxury subcompact crossovers, but at the moment Lexus is not interested in jumping in. Toyota will debut its new small crossover next year based on the C-HR Concept, a model which could eventually lead to a small Lexus crossover.

For now though, Lexus will make due with IS, CT and NX as its entry-level models.
