Here's the Buick Hatchback You Can't Have

Buick has introduced the new Verano Hatchback and Verano GS models at the 2015 Guangzhou Motor Show.

If it looks a little peculiar to you, that’s because the Buick Verano in China isn’t the same as the Verano we enjoy in the U.S. Essentially the same as the Opel Astra, the Chinese Verano Hatchback and Verano GS do, however, feature the brand’s new signature waterfall grille.

Two versions of the Verano Hatchback will be available in China, a base model with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 117 horsepower and 108 pound-feet of torque mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and a sportier Verano GS with 166 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque from the same engine. The Verano GS will come with a seven-speed DSG instead of the six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The Verano GS is also outfitted with an exclusive sporty black and red kit inside and out, highlighted by aerodynamic exterior accessories, bright red strips on the front and rear bumpers, bright red calipers and 17-inch dark-painted five-spoke aluminum alloy wheels.

Interior enhancements include a bright red carbon fiber-pattern strip across the center console and red stitching make a sporty impression in the cabin. A three-spoke sporty steering wheel pairs up nicely with the Alcantara racing car-like seats.

The two models will also be the first Buick models in China to offer Apple CarPlay.
