Subaru has previewed the design direction for its next-generation XV compact crossover.

In the midst of 1,500-horsepower exotics, the Subaru XV concept quietly debuted at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Serving as something more pedestrian and realistic for the everyday consumer, this new concept previews the design direction for the next generation of Subaru vehicles, namely an all-new XV compact crossover.

According to the Japanese automaker, the Subaru XV concept “is a design study that embodies Subaru’s next-generation ‘DYNAMIC X SOLID’ design philosophy, with a solid, robust appearance and raised ground clearance that references the go-anywhere All-Wheel Drive capability of every Subaru vehicle.”

Up front, the concept is highlighted by the company’s signature hexagonal grille with “hawk-eye” headlamps. There’s also matte black body cladding all around for off-road appeal, while the rear of this crossover sports tail lights that share the same design motif as the front head lamps.

The Subaru XV concept has been finished off in an exclusive new paint shade called Glacier Khaki Silica. It’s a newly-developed blue-grey tone that was created to evoke the appearance of glacier ice. In addition to all of this, minor styling accents are sprinkled around the body, including orange highlights that appear on the grille, front and rear bumpers, 19-inch wheels and roof rails.
