2019 Subaru Ascent Specs and Features You Need to Know

Subaru is venturing into the three-row crossover segment again and the all-new 2019 Ascent is as big and family oriented as you can get.

Let’s dive into the details of Subaru’s latest attempt to make waves in the large crossover market. Here are some 2019 Subaru Ascent specs and features you should know:

Brawny Turbo Powertrain

Because this is Subaru’s biggest vehicle yet, it needs a competent engine and the 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer should not disappoint. Its 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque are sure to move this vehicle with authority. A CVT automatic transmission is standard across the board and, of course, Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive system comes with the package. A further bonus? Premium fuel is not required for this turbo engine.

Towing and Off-Roading

The Subaru Ascent is rated to tow 5,000 pounds, more than any Subaru in history. The SUV also has 8.7 inches of ground clearance, a 17.6-inch approach angle and a 21.8-inch departure angle.

Family-Friendly Amenities

There are eight USB ports in total, an insane amount of cup holders (19 in total), on-board Wi-Fi capability, and a 120-volt outlet on board for those family getaways.

Flexible Seating Arrangements

As expected with such a large vehicle, there is ample seating for large families — three rows of seating is offered with room for up to eight people. In all models except the base Ascent, either two captain’s chairs or a three-row bench for the second row are offered at no extra cost to customers. The second row is available heated and also tips and slides forward for easier access to the third row. The SUV offers up to 72.6 cubic feet of cargo space.

Safety First

Included as standard right from the base trim is Subaru’s EyeSight technology suite. What you get with this is Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Departure and Sway Warning as well as Pre-Collision Throttle Management. Because the Ascent is capable of towing a robust max of 5, 000 lbs, the automaker took steps to make towing safer by having a trailer stability control system, which keeps the vehicle in a straight line while towing.

Pricing

Subaru is making this large crossover very competitive amongst its peers like the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander by pricing it in the low $30,000 range for the base models. It should arrive in dealers nationwide by early summer of 2018.
