AWD Tesla Model 3 'Probably' Coming in July

Elon Musk says the dual-motor, all-wheel drive Tesla Model 3 should begin to roll off the line at its factory in Fremont, California this July.

Model 3 reservation holders have been eagerly awaiting the start of production for the dual-motor, all-wheel drive version of the sedan. Tesla is currently only building one version of the car, the single motor rear-wheel drive model with the long-range battery pack, in order to ensure the production process is as straightforward as can be in its early stages. Once the production line’s kinks have been worked out, Musk says Tesla can begin work on the dual motor Model 3.

Can someone tell me when @Tesla will make the dual motor #model3? Or any info at all about it other than sometime this year? My car has been sitting in the configuration for months waiting on it @elonmusk

So probably July

The all-wheel drive Model 3 isn’t the only version of the sedan reservation holders are waiting for. Tesla has also yet to start building the single motor Model 3 with the short range battery pack, which is the version of the car that is expected to cost approximately $35,000. That rather elusive vehicle should go into production sometime later this year, although it’s understood the dual motor car will arrive first.

If Musk’s estimation is correct, the dual-motor Model 3 should be rolling off the Fremont line en masse before the end of the summer.
