Volvo just unveiled the second of three concepts meant to preview its future product design based on its new Scalable Product Architecture.

The XC Coupe Concept sits on 21-inch wheels and features a two-door hatchback design. There are four seats inside the heavily styled concept car, which likely serves as a preview for the next XC90’s roofline.

According to the company, high-strength boron steel used to form structures with advanced decoupling methods used in this vehicle will allow for improved safety in a more compact vehicle.

Much of the overall styling is carried through from the first concept car Volvo showed during the Frankfurt Motor Show in September last year. The wheels are larger, but other key elements like T-shaped daytime running lights and the floating grille both made it over from the previous concept.
