Kia is getting ready to roll out the third generation of the Sorento crossover and the brand has dropped some shadowy teaser images to preview the new style.

From the images, we can see that the Sorento is adopting the corporate face of Kia including the tiger nose grille, and is dropping its somewhat boxy design in favor of a more rounded, slick appearance. The footprint of the Sorento is also set to grow, with the updated model facing off against the Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, and Chevrolet Traverse rather than compact crossovers.

Exactly what will power this new model is unknown, but a likely step will be the axing of the 3.3-liter V6 in favor of a small 2.0-liter turbo unit, like the one found in the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.

The new Sorento will break cover in August in its home market of Korea, and will be shown to the world at the upcoming 2014 Paris Motor Show in October.
