Lamborghini Aventador SV Jota Looks Even Crazier Up Close

The Lamborghini Aventador SV Jota has had curious photographer’s lenses all over it at the Nurburgring Nordschleife this past week.

Lamborghini has been putting the final iteration of the Aventador through its paces at the famous 12.9-mile long German racetrack in preparation for the vehicle’s launch later this year. We’ve already seen spy photos of prototypes lapping the track and even a video, but now the two test cars have been caught up close with the cover off.

These details shots give us a better look at the Aventador SV Jota’s extremely intricate aerodynamics. We also get a good look at the interior, which isn’t representative of the production car’s cabin thanks to the roll bar, race-spec bucket seat and emergency off switches. The wheels appear to be the lightweight alloy sort and feature a centerlock hub. They are also wrapped in Pirelli Trofeo R tires and sit in front of sizable carbon ceramic brakes.

The Aventador SV Jota, if that does indeed turn out to be its name, is expected to feature the Aventador’s venerable 6.5-liter V12 engine. Power should be close to 800, seeing as the Aventador Centenario made 770 hp. Other go-fast bits from Lamborghini’s parts bin, such as active aerodynamics and rear-wheel steering, may also be on the table.

We won’t be shocked if Lamborghini is aiming to break the Nurburgring lap record for production cars with the Aventador SV Jota. They’ll have quite a hard time doing that though, with the lightweight and nimble Porsche 911 GT2 RS lapping the track in a scarcely believable 6 minutes and 47 seconds.

Look for the hardcore Aventador SV Jota to debut sometime later this year.
