2014 Fiat 500L, Jeep Cherokee Named IIHS Top Safety Picks

The all-new 2014 Fiat 500L and Jeep Cherokee have been named Top Safety Picks by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The 2014 Fiat 500L received a good rating on the following four tests: side impact, front moderate-overlap impact, roof-crush consistent with a rollover and a rear collision capable of inducing whiplash. The Fiat 500L boasts over 40 available safety and security features according to the Italian automaker and comes with seven air bags.

“The all-new 2014 Fiat 500L blends Italian style, a loft-like interior, great value and advanced safety features such as reactive head restraints and seven standard air bags, making it a unique proposition in the marketplace,” said Jason Stoicevich, Head of Fiat Brand for North America, Chrysler Group LLC.

Joining the Fiat 500L in being named an IIHS Top Safety Pick is the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that also received a good rating on the four tests. The all-new Cherokee has more than 70 available safety and security features and comes standard with 10 air bags.

“The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee represents the pinnacle of innovation in the mid-size SUV segment,” said Mike Manley, Jeep President and Chief Executive Officer.

Both vehicles join 12 other Chrysler Group vehicles to claim Top Safety Pick status within the last 10 months.
