Cadillac Considering More Electrified Vehicles

With the Cadillac ELR launching in the near future, the American automaker is considering adding more electrified vehicles to its lineup.

According to Cadillac global sales head Bob Ferguson, the brand is extremely optimistic that the ELR will be successful on the market place, especially on the West Coast and in the Northeast. Despite not having yet launched, the automaker is seriously considering adding more battery-based vehicles to its lineup.

2014 Cadillac ELR Priced Above Tesla Model S at $76,000

The ELR was recently announced with a price tag of $76,990 (including destination) – even more than the successful Tesla Model S. Regardless, it’s believed that the model will tap into a fast-growing market that could lead to even larger Cadillac battery-powered vehicles. GM is also hard at work improving its hybrid powertrain for longer range and lower cost.

In addition, Ferguson confessed that support for the Elmiraj concept to become a production vehicle is growing within General Motors’ walls, though it hasn’t been officially given the green light from corporate.
