Subaru has revealed its new Rallycross racer before the car makes its official debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show.

This is the third iteration of Subaru’s Rallycross car built by the brand’s technical partner Vermont SportsCar. Known as the VT15x, the car packs a 580-hp 2.0-liter Boxer engine hooked up to a six-speed sequential transmission and all-wheel drive. The 0 to 60 mph sprint time is pegged at an even two seconds according to Subaru.

Updates on the new car include optimized weight balance, updated suspension geometry, improved aerodynamics and a lower center-of-gravity. “The foundation of every great race car is the chassis you start with. Using the 2015 WRX STI, we have seen gains in handling and cornering in both our stage rally and rallycross cars; which is a testament to advancements in design from the factory,” said Vermont SportsCar Team Principal Lance Smith.

The car will meet GRC and FIA Rallycross homologation standard. It will run its first race on May, 31 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Last year, Subaru grabbed five global Rallycross podiums including a Silver Medal at X Games. “Our goal in 2014 was getting to the front row of every final and being on the podium,” said Rob Weir, Subaru Motorsports Marketing Manager. “This year, our only goal is winning.”
