Jaguar is said to be developing another model to expand its crossover and SUV offerings.

According to a report from CAR, the new luxury SUV will be called the Jaguar J-Pace and will be close to Range Rover territory in the marketplace. Expect the Jaguar J-Pace to be based on the facelifted Range Rover’s aluminum platform with its proportions similar to the Range Rover Sport. Jaguar Land Rover will be working to make sure there’s a large enough gap between the two brands, with the Jaguar model focusing more on a sportier driving experience rather than the off-roading capability that Land Rover models have to offer.

The Jaguar J-Pace will target the Audi Q8, BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS-Class models in the marketplace and is rumored to debut in 2019. Under the hood, the model will likely be powered by a V6 for the entry-level model while a more powerful V8 will be available as an option. Jaguar will also likely add a plug-in hybrid model as well as a high-performance SVR variant to the Jaguar J-Pace lineup further down the line.

The British automaker is also believed to be considering a compact crossover that will slot under the F-Pace, ultimately giving the brand three competitors in the segment.
